Role and Responsibilities

The Director of Public Affairs and Communications will lead and coordinate the organization's overall communications strategy. Reporting to the President and Vice President, the Director will work collaboratively with the other designated Directors and the Board of Members to develop and implement communication strategies to broaden the impact of Indonesian Community of New England, Inc.  (ICONE, Inc.) programs.

  • Collaborate with the President, the Board Members, and other designated Directors to develop communications strategies that will broaden programmatic reach and deepen impact.

  • Develop and refine ICONE, Inc.’s core messages and Q&As materials to ensure organizational consistency.

  • Identify significant community, media and public policy issues that can be leveraged to support ICONE, Inc.'s work, and create and implement plans to exploit them.

  • Serve as executive editor for the organization's website, FB page, various social media platforms, and other communication collaterals/channels.

  • Oversee organizational response to inquiries about ICONE, Inc. and increase public engagement in various communication channels.

Qualifications Requirements

  • Experienced in communications initiatives that includes a blend of community, advocacy and media relations.

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent is required.

  • Speaks and writes fluent English and Indonesian.

  • Has strong organizational, communications, and time management skills.

  • Confident and outgoing team player with a positive can-do attitude.

  • Attendance at team meetings is required.

  • Resides in Massachusetts.

Important Notes

This position is a volunteered based and non-salaried. The Director and other team members are working based on the spirit of volunteerism and collective passion to make organization’s mission and visions come into realization for the greater good of Indonesian community in New England. Operational expenses may be disbursed based on need and prioritization.
